Another Indonesian Blankbook. This blankbook was purchased from the same shop as the one featured here. Like its cousin, it is also printed in the same muted palate of brown, black and yellow.

Indonesian blankbook (1)
The Indonesians love of pattern and ornament is evident throughout their county. For one, Indonesia is a country famed for its patterned cloth, or Batik. Charmingly, patterns associated with batik are even used on the covers of blankbooks.
Here is one such example. It was purchased in Yogjakarta in 2014. It was clearly of older stock. It is a subdued pattern, in black, yellow and brown. Nonetheless, the fine printing conveys all the genius of the batik-painter's art on the paper.

Striped wrapping paper (2)
This is another example of the fine "minimalist" styles of wraping paper that have recently been popular. It is printed on a fine brown paper, in three colours. The colours are a dull brown, a dull blue, and a rather pleasing gold ink.
The overall effect is rather pleasing. The muted colours of the background form a pleasant contrast to the shimmering gold stripes. As you can see, this sheet of paper once wrapped a present. Its impatient recipient tore the wrapper to the state you see here.

Cupcake holder (2)
Here is another cupcake holder. This particular sample is decorated with a pattern of roses. The brown marks are the remnants of the sweet treat it once contained.

Striped wrapping paper
The scanning process has lightened the colour of the central stripe. In reality, the colour is slightly deeper.

Cupcake holder
Cupcakes and other such dainites are usually served in small paper cups, which are often decorated. This particular example ( which has been flattened out) is decorated with a pattern of red and white hearts. Other examples are decorated in a pattern of small floral sprays, often in two colours.
